How do you turn an underutilized parking lot into a state-of-the-art collegiate aquatics facility?

Forell Elsesser provided structural engineering services for this new aquatics facility including four buildings totaling over 10,000 s.f.  The steel and CMU main building along Bancroft Way includes an entrance hall, multi-purpose team room, and pool equipment. A CMU locker room building and a pool storage building are located adjacent to the new 50m pool. A new concrete framed dive tower, including platforms as high as 10m, is the first dive tower at the UC Berkeley campus.

Customized Solution

  • Low cost, efficient structures along with beautiful high-end finishes was the goal for this new privately funded aquatics facility that is for the exclusive use by student-athletes.
