Forell Elsesser provided structural engineering services for the completion of a new 150,000 square foot, 5-story skilled nursing facility (SNF) with 48 Skilled Nursing and 24 Memory Care units. Positioned on a steeply sloped site near the Hayward fault, the project included major site retaining walls, which were also subject to OHSPD review.
The facility featured three residential levels situated above two levels of parking. To meet the very high seismic demands of the site while maximizing building functionality, a combination of steel moment frames and buckling-restrained braces on the upper levels and concrete shear walls on the lower levels were selected.
Throughout the project, Forell Elsesser ensured the seamless integration of structural elements with architectural design, culminating in a facility that not only met rigorous seismic standards but also provided a safe and functional environment for the community and residents.
