Forell | Elsesser Engineers provided the structural engineering services for the new aquatic center for the College of Marin at the Indian Valley Campus in Novato. The new Miwok Center is a Design-Build project that support students’ academic health and wellness, kinesiology, aquatics, and athletics programs. The center includes a state-of-the-art building that holds a 50-meter competition pool with an adjacent six-lane, 25-yard warm-up pool. The facility also includes a 10-meter dive tower that is designed using a cast-in-place concrete core with pre-cast concrete dive platforms. This new 21,000 sf building includes a fitness center with areas for cardio equipment, weights, and group fitness. The center also includes community space for aquatic classes, teams, meets, and camps, as well as for recreational purposes.
