The Salt Lake Temple Retrofit Reaches a Major Milestone

The Salt Lake Temple Retrofit reached a major milestone – the tower transfer girder concrete was placed! This was the culmination of a years-long process of designing, coordinating, and building the rebar cage for the 15′ by 15′ transfer girders that run around the perimeter of each Temple tower.

The girders transfer the load of the Temple’s granite towers onto the new base isolation system.

Each tower was cast separately, with 3300CY of concrete in each. The pour was carefully coordinated between Jacobsen Construction’s Self-Perform Concrete team, Parson’s Concrete, and Burbidge Concrete Pumping.
